Summer Term Newsletter 2015

Dear Parents / Carers,

We have plenty of events happening this term, so please get your diaries ready!

This year it has been decided that we will be visiting Godstone farm for our annual event.

The date for this is Thursday, 11th June 2015. If you haven’t returned your reply slip please do so ASAP.

Our sponsored event this year will be ‘Our Environment Exploration Adventure’.  This is where the children will visit imaginary places in the environment.  This will be held during the week commencing 27th April 2015.

Our open evening this year will be held in July.  This is a great opportunity for you to see your child’s work and speak to their key person.  The date for this is to be confirmed and invitations for this will be given out nearer the time.

If you would like to speak to your child’s key person before open evening you are welcome to make an appointment with them.

Your child’s key person have already given out the ‘My Unique Story’ document, we encourage all parent / carers to return these as we share these with your child’s future school!

Sports day will take place on Friday, 24th July 2015.  This is a fun day for ALL the family and picnics will be needed! Please note, there are NO Nursery sessions on this day and children must be accompanied by an adult throughout the day.

Donations for the raffle for sports day will be needed and very much appreciated.

The last day of term is Friday, 24th July 2015.

Before the children leave us we will be supporting their transition into school, talking about the exciting new experience and providing engaging in activities that aids this.  For the children who will be attending the Brent School we will be visiting them during various sessions for an opportunity for them to play for a short period of time.  We often have visits from Teachers from various schools also.

Just to remind everyone about being safe in the sun, please ensure that sun cream is applied before children come into nursery and that your child has a sun hat.  These are available to purchase, please just ask.

This can often be a time that parents / carers worry about if their child is ready for school?  The learning experiences at nursery provide a solid structure for this.  Opportunities for your child to gain independence in their self help skills at home are another way of supporting this transition.  Activities that encourage dressing themselves, putting on their own shoes, washing their hands supports independence and builds upon their self confidence.

The colour we are learning this half term is orange and next half term is purple.  Please encourage your child to look for items that are this colour and bring in for the colour table.  Please ensure all items are clearly labelled with your child’s name, thank you.

The letter sound this half term will be sent out shortly.

Nursery will be closed during half term, which is Monday, 25th May to Friday, 29th May 2015.

WANTED:

Parents and guardians to come and experience Nursery life!  Come and see what your child is experiencing at Nursery and come and have some fun too!  We desperately need volunteers for our garden, so please get those green fingers at the ready!!!  If any parents have any plants that they can donate these are gratefully received.

EYPP:

Before half term a letter regarding Early Years Pupil Premium (EYPP) was sent out.  If you are yet to return this letter, please do so.  The significance that this can give to children’s learning has been well documented in schools and we are now lucky to have this opportunity given to early years settings.

REMINDERS:

We would like to remind all parents and guardians to ensure that ALL children are brought to Nursery promptly, as it is essential for the children to have the opportunity to participate in all the activities available.

Also, during pick up time please ensure that all children are collected at the correct times.  Please respect our neighbours and ensure that you park responsibly and considerately.  Nursery parents should not park within the school grounds, thank you.

Please also ensure that no dogs are brought onto the nursery site, as dogs are prohibited by the school and KCC.
