Spring 2017 Newsletter

We have been renovating the setting’s lobby with new flooring and as you can see your support with fundraising ensures we can maintain essential maintenance work.

Diary dates section:

We have a very busy term with lots of celebrations. Please make sure you make a note, so when your child talks to you about what they have been learning you will be well prepared.

Pancake Day (28th February), St Patrick’s Day (17th March), Mother’s Day (26th March), Easter (week of 27Th March).

Term dates:

TERM 4: Monday, 20th February – Friday, 31st March (6 weeks)

We will be continuing to follow the children’s learning journey through photos, observations and tracking. You will be receiving their unique story document from last term, which not only highlights the developments observed last term, but also what we are planning on supporting your child to learn next. If you do have any questions, please do make a key person appointment with your child’s allocated key person at any time, we are here to help.

Useful telephone numbers:

The Parent’s Consortium: 01322 668501

Gingerbread – lone parent National Office: 0800 018 5026

Letter and colour of the term:

TERM 4: Blue and the letter sound is p.

The children are encouraged to bring in items from home. This aids in their colour recognition in their environment. However, please make sure all items are labelled with their name on, thank you.

We would also like to remind you that letter sound sheets are for FUN, so they can complete these at home with you, so that you can support your child’s learning.

Please note, we hope to have visitors from the local community to learn about and talk to, and if you feel you could come and talk to the children about your role in the community (i.e. a police officer, a nurse, a dentist, etc…) please speak to the Nursery Supervisor. As your support and valuable insight is always welcomed.

Our notice boards in the lobby area are full of useful information, such as your child’s learning based around the EYFS. Please do take a moment to have a look.

Parking:

Please continue to consider our neighbours when parking your car.

Clothes:

Please can all items of clothing be named, including hats, gloves, shoes and coats. Please can we ask that no lace up shoes are worn, we are really trying to gain independent skills and Velcro shoes are much easier for the children.

Updating children’s information:

Please can you remember to inform us of any changes to your personal information (phone numbers, potty training, parents’ separation, sleep problems) as these all have an effect on children’s behaviour at nursery.

Important information:

Fees must be paid in advance, if you are unsure if you owe anything from last term please ask the Nursery Supervisor. With busy home lives it is easy for things to get forgotten, this is the same as the Christmas party money.

Also, please check that all cookery fees are paid, as these are wonderful opportunities that cannot be experienced without the vital payments, thank you.

Stay and play:

Would you like to see what your child is learning? The Nursery operates a parent/carer rota for YOU to come and experience nursery life. This is available within the nursery lobby. If you would like more information, please do not hesitate to speak to a member of staff.

Wanted:

Old newspapers, buttons, food colouring, paper of various sizes (A4, A3 etc), and if you were fortunate during the festive season to receive extra gifts you do not know what to do with, please think of us as we use these for future raffle prizes, thank you.

We really do appreciate all donations and are grateful for the support shown to the nursery.

Remember, if you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to ask.
